Alor Star to Pulau Bunting, Yan and back ...

3rd of July was the day that I joined a group of cyclists on their excursion to Pulau Bunting,Yan. Never been there before but the trip itself was too inviting to ignore. Group consists of several riders of different age group, the youngest being only 13 and the oldest, I think is around 55...so a mixture of young and old. The ride itself was ok with clear blue sky all the way, only at the last stretch home was a drizzle and even that did not dampen our spirit..

Punctured tyres happened not once, not twice but 4 times, and this slowed down the journey. Good thing about it was the chance to gobble whatever there is at stalls along the way...

All in all, took us about 8 hours, could have been lesser if not for the puncture and rest. Photos below are the proof ...

meet up place, Stadium Darul Aman

2nd puncture ... mine was before this

Ride To Work, 1st Day ...

Was contemplating of cycling to work ever since I came across Rezdrake and Akmal's blogs, and sure enough, I managed to prepare and get myself mentally ready for it today ... it was fun and relaxing, and having people stared at me as if I am one lunatic being out early in the morning cycling was mind boggling. It seems that over here, many are not used to seeing people wearing helmets and gloves cycling to work, cars are honking, some motorcyclists stared and looked at me wondering why this cyclist is among them, and best of all, the funny look I got from my friends at work.....hahahaha.

It's not that far, I mean the distance from my house to my workplace, maybe around 2 to 3 km, and I took my own sweet time enjoying the ride, and this is the data I got from my GH-625M GPS Sports Training Watch about my trip...

After a long silence ....

This is my first entry after a long hiatus from blogging due to numerous reasons only I know....hahahaha, and got a nice shock, or may I say, reminder, that there are still others who came across my blog and find obsolete information here. It just shows that once we start blogging, the need to post regularly is expected from us....not only from our own desire to share with the rest of the world, but also to fulfill the demand of other bloggers craving for information or just stories.

Many things happened during the 6 months break, I registered for 3 Jamboree, Perlis Ride Up North (2009), Kulim Nite Ride (couldn't make it due to unforeseen circumstances) and Alor Star Jelapang Padi Ride (lambat bangun ... so missed it...sigh)....

And I had one major fall during an outing at Changlun, Kedah with Achong, going down hard at 53km/h due to loose QR...sakit satu badan and there are permanent marks to prove it....
Still, life must go on, what with work and famliy commitment to deal with, all I can say that is thatmtb is one way of escapism.....

And during the last school holiday, I bumped into Akmal at Plaza Angsana, JB...been folllowing his blog all this while and surprised when he greeted me, the reason was the tshirt I bought the previous nite at JB Bazaar for RM3....hahahahaha. And if not for my wife and kids who were pestering me for McD, sure dah sembang lama dgn brader ni ...

I'll try to make it a point to update this blog, hopefully this can be one of the ways to escape the predictable cycle in life, insyaallah

Ladang Tebu Nite Ride (Nocturnal Ride)

I joined up with 19 "tegar" riders, all eagerly waiting to see how the trail lives up to its name....ladang tebu, dusty, windy, and "fun". I experienced it first hand with Achong, Tandope, Chan and 1 more rider, but it was during daytime. So, tonite's ride was supposed to be a revisit, but it didnt't turn out that way..hahaha

Didn't manage to snap pics due to drained out battery...lupa nak charge...so, the only visual offerings can only be found below, thanks to hardcore picmen .... Achong, Rushdone, Saifudin, and Chan NXT (the ever popular organizer, been told that tonite's ride was the biggest crowd ever gathered here, tahniah bro!!)

The story of that event can be found in their respective blogs....what I can say is that I enjoy every moment of it...lain kali memang nak pi lagi...

Changloon...Guar Napai...Changloon

Finally, the day is good enough for me to start pedalling again...got to know from Achong that a ride was on today and since its the school holiday, I made it a point to drive up north to join them. Arrived at BSN Changloon at 7.30a.m but only 1 rider was there....Azizul (org kuat mtb ni...). Got to know him and later Tandope joined in. Ni semua otai2 mtb Changloon, got to learn a lot from them.

Achong arrived few minutes later, first time meeting him as the only means of communication before this was through SMS and chat box...this guy cycles nearly everyday....strong as a bull...

Another bloke joining us today was Rushdone....had to wait for him to get his tyres pumped up...but later on, he still had problem with his roda .... punctured or something....

What I can say is that this ride was much tougher than my previous outings as rolling hills are aplenty...and that  only shows how unfit I really am...I had to go down once and pushed as there's no more energy left to pedal...a reminder that I need to shape up to keep up with those seasoned riders....one more thing is that they plan to have a ride from Changloon to Durian Burung and back through Derang on the 13th next month and the only way to follow them and not be left behind is to practise and train more....kalau dak malu aje....semput.

Great time I had with them....there will be other outings with you guys, that I can promise...:O)

Tandope tgh perati Yeti yg bunyi...Achong dah teguk ayaq ...

this happened to Rushdone's ride, first time for me, him and Achong to rectify it
